Husisian's gold came in a matchup of Tigers, with Husisian, taking the year off from Princeton this year after earning All-American honors in finishing third at the NCAA Championships as a rookie last winter, defeating 2018 NCAA champion Kasia Nixon '21 15-13 in the final. Husisian went 6-0 in the pool bouts and then won six straight to claim gold. Holmes finished 12th in the event.
Two more NCAA champions, 2018 saber champ Maia Chamberlain '22 and 2022 foil champ Maia Weintraub, taking the year off from Princeton after earning a second All-American honor as a sophomore last winter, earned silver medals in their respective Division 1 weapon competitions. Weintraub went 6-0 in pool bouts and won five more times to make the final before a 15-10 loss to Carolina Stutchbury. Chamberlain went 6-0 in pools and won five straight to make the final before Elizabeth Tartakovsky, in a rematch of the fencers' 2022 NCAA semifinal, defeated Chamberlain 15-13 to take gold.
