Winning five of the first six matches off court to clinch the match, the No. 3-ranked Princeton men's squash team defeated No. 4 Harvard 6-3 on Saturday afternoon before a boisterous crowd in Jadwin Gym.
The win ended an 11-match win streak in the series for Harvard and was Princeton's first over the Crimson since Jan. 13, 2013. The loss was Harvard's first in the league since Jan. 15, 2022 against Penn, ending a streak of 12 straight wins in Ivy regular-season matches and 16 straight over Ivy varsity programs including Potter Cup play.
Hollis Robertson and Alastair Cho won two of the first three matches off court at second and fifth position to get Princeton its first two wins, and then Thomas Rosini rallied at third from being down 2-0 in games to win in five and make the team score 3-1 for the Tigers. Federico Sosa then delivered a three-game win at ninth to put Princeton on the brink of clinching, and at eighth position, Gordon Lam won in four games to deliver the fifth win.
Alhassan Khalil pushed the lead to 6-1, winning in a five-game match that must have felt like six after taking the second game 20-18 to go up 2-0. Harvard's Liam Rotzoll forced a fifth game with back-to-back 11-8 wins, but Khalil had an 11-8 win of his own to seal the match.
Harvard won the last two matches off court, at fourth and first positions.
Now 3-0 in Ivy League play, Princeton will host Dartmouth on Sunday at noon in Jadwin.
