Wilkinson Earns Ivy Coach of the Year Honor as Four Tigers Named All-Ivy
February 15, 2024 | Men's Squash
After helping the Princeton men's squash team to its first Ivy title since 2013, senior Karim Elbarbary, freshman Hollis Robertson and junior Thomas Rosini were named to the All-Ivy League team, Alastair Cho was selected as the Academic All-Ivy honoree, and coach Sean Wilkinson was named the Ivy League Coach of the Year.
Wilkinson's honor is the first for a Princeton men's squash coach since the award was first given in 2015. Elbarbary was an All-Ivy Leaguer in 2023, the honors are the first for Rosini and Robertson, and Cho was the Academic All-Ivy honoree in 2023.
Princeton stands 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the Ivy heading into the team's regular-season finale at Virginia. The team won its first four Ivy League matches before a loss to Yale on Feb. 4, setting up a must-win situation in the Jadwin Gym finale against Penn, which was unbeaten in the league, if the Tigers were to win an Ivy title share. Though Princeton fell behind 4-1 in the match, all four remaining matches went Princeton's way, capped by a five-set win from Elbarbary at first position to clinch the match and the league title.
Elbarbary has played all eight of his matches this season at first position, holding a 4-4 record. At 6-3 overall, Robertson played most of his matches at second position, going 5-1 there. At 7-3 overall, Rosini played primarily at third position, going 4-3 there.
Cho, an economics major, earned the team's Academic All-Ivy honor. A senior, Cho had matches at every position from first through sixth during the season, going 7-3 overall.
Following the Virginia match, Princeton will compete in the CSA team tournament in Philadelphia, beginning Feb. 29.
