Women's Rugby Falls To Sacred Heart In Season Opener
August 31, 2024 | Women's Rugby
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Despite falling to Sacred Heart in its season opener, it was a historic day for the Princeton University women' rugby team Saturday at Rickerson Field at Haaga House as the Tigers, who are in their third season as a varsity program, played their first ever match at the brand-new facility.
Despite repeated attacking opportunities by the Tigers, it was the Pioneers, 2023 National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) semifinalists, who took a 31-0 advantage into halftime. Princeton battled hard in the second half but would fall with a final score of 67-0.
