Peocz’s Nine Point Game Lifts Men’s Water Polo Over No. 10 Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif.- The Princeton men's water polo team had just two games left on the annual California trip heading into the Thursday night contest against Long Beach State. The No. 13 Tigers went into the matchup looking for its second win of the week while taking on the No. 10 Sharks.
Led by five goals and four assists from Ádám Peocz, the Tigers took down the Sharks 17-14.

The Sharks scored back to back goals quickly in the first quarter, but a powerplay goal from Tigran Sennett cut the lead in half.
After Long Beach scored its third goal in the first frame, Peocz found the back of the cage with the assist from Gavin Appeldorn. On the next possession, Peocz got the steal and got the ball to Appeldorn for the score to tie things up at three apiece.
The two teams traded goals until the halftime break as the Sharks held on to a one goal lead.
Luka Franulovic evened the score at 9-9 to start off the third quarter and Princeton was off from there. The Tigers scored four unanswered goals to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Peocz scored twice in the fourth quarter to give him a new career high five goals in a single game as Princeton went on to secure the win.
The victory over Long Beach is the squad's second top 10 win of the season.
