Bates Release
Stacey Bunting, who is completing her sixth year as a senior administrator within Princeton Athletics, has been named Director of Athletics at Bates College.
Bunting, who currently serves as Senior Director of Athletics/External Relations, will officially begin her new role at Bates on July 1.
"Stacey is a smart, dynamic and thoughtful leader. Her unique combination of creative passion and strong strategic vision have helped to transform our Department and University," said Ford Family Director of Athletics John Mack '00. "This is a tremendous loss for Princeton but I am thrilled for Stacey and her family as she takes this well-deserved next step in her career. Simply put, Bates has hired a winner."
Since arriving at Princeton in the fall of 2019, Bunting has overseen the athletic communications, marketing and multimedia efforts for the department while also sitting on the senior leadership team and serving as sport administrator for several varsity programs. She has led growth in strategic communications and branding efforts across the department and elevated fan experience and audience engagement for all 38 varsity programs.
"It has been a true privilege to be part of Princeton Athletics and the broader University community," Bunting said. "I am grateful to have been part of a place that values academic, competitive, and personal excellence as essential to the holistic student experience. I am especially thankful for the people — colleagues, coaches, students, and campus partners — who made every day meaningful. Princeton will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will carry these experiences and friendships with me as I move into my new role at Bates."
Bunting began her athletics career at her alma mater, the University of Miami, focusing on revenue generation and audience development. At the University of Delaware, she expanded into college advancement, launching and leading the Athletics Annual Fund and later advancing to Senior Associate Director of Athletics. In that role, she oversaw all external operations, while also helping to guide strategic planning and brand development initiatives across the department.
Upon her arrival at Princeton in 2019, Bunting immediately helped plan celebrations surrounding Princeton's role in the nation-wide celebration of 150 Years of College Football, including the Tigers' game against Dartmouth at Yankee Stadium. Since then, she played a key role in strategic communication efforts in department-wide initiatives including Tiger Athletics Give Day, Tigers Together, Homecoming and Tiger Fan Fest among numerous other activations.
