PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Meg Madison claims the Ivy League Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors Tuesday afternoon following a resilient outing at Saturday's Nuttycombe Invitational, where she played a pivotal role for Princeton in her first race of the season.
After being in 93rd at 2K, Madison pumped the gas and kicked out 32 runners to place 60th overall in a field of more than 220 runners. She finished in 20:25.5 as the second scoring runner for the Tigers to secure a 15th-place team finish against the top-ranked teams in the country.
She helped Princeton finish over Ivy League foe Harvard at the meet.
The weekly honor is the third of Madison's collegiate career.
The Tigers are back home Friday at the Joe Handleman '52 Fall Classic at the Princeton XC Course, with the race scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
