Five Finalists Named For Class Of 1916 Cup

Five Princeton student-athletes have been named finalists for the Class of 1916 Cup, which is presented annually to the Princeton varsity letterwinner who has achieved the highest academic standing at graduation. The award was given by the Class of 1916 on the occasion of its 50th reunion.
The Class of 1916 Cup will be presented at the Gary Walters '67 Princeton Varsity Club Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 21st. For more information on the 2026 banquet, click here.

BRAEDEN CARROLL | MEN'S LIGHTWEIGHT ROWING
Braeden Carroll is a two-time IRCA Scholar-Athlete for Princeton men's lightweight rowing. The Tigers have captured an IRA National Championship and two Jope Cup Championships during Carroll's time with the Orange & Black
Carroll was recently awarded the University's Pyne Prize, Princeton's top undergraduate honor, which recognizes scholarship, character and leadership. He is also a two-time Shapiro Prize recipient, which recognizes undergraduate academic excellence, and a two-time George B. Wood Legacy Prize recipient. Carroll has worked with the High Meadows Environmental Institute throughout his time at Princeton, and also been active with the Undergraduate Student Government and the Students Event Committee.
From Kinnelon, N.J., Carroll is a civil and environmental engineering major.
CONLAN DIAMOND | MEN'S LIGHTWEIGHT ROWING
Conlan Diamond has been a steady force for Princeton men's lightweight rowing, helping the Tigers Third Varsity win gold at this spring's Eastern Sprints following a silver performance last season. The Tigers are ranked No. 4 nationally and captured the program's 17th Jope Cup team points trophy.
Off the water, Diamond has been active with the Outdoor Action Leadership Development Program, helping to welcome and transition incoming students to Princeton. A Shapiro Prize recipient, Diamond has served as a Congressional Intern with the U.S. House of Representatives, in addition to internship work in the financial sector.
Diamond is an economics major from Dallas, Texas pursuing a minor in finance.
HELENA GROßE | FIELD HOCKEY
Helena Große is a four-time NFHCA National Scholar of Distinction and Academic All-Ivy honoree for Princeton field hockey. The senior midfielder has been part of two Ivy League championships and helped this year's Tigers to the Ivy Tournament title and berth in the NCAA National Championship Game.
Große serves as a Let Her Play Ambassador, leading clinics to inspire young girls in sport, and is an active volunteer with Princeton Best Buddies helping to promote inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, she served as a research assistant for the Princeton School of International Affairs (SPIA) and was awarded the R.W. van de Velde Award for outstanding junior independent work.
From Berlin, Germany, Große is studying in the School of Public and International Affairs with a minor in cognitive science.
CHRISTINA LI | WOMEN'S OPEN ROWING
Christina Li is a four-time Ivy League medalist and CRCA Scholar Athlete for Princeton women's open rowing. As Coxswain, Li helped guide the Second Varsity to the gold at the 2026 Ivy League championships, where the Tigers defended their overall Ivy League title for the ninth consecutive year.
On campus, Li serves on the Princeton University Art Museum Student Advisory Board and participates in the La Vie en Cello musical ensemble. Additionally, Li is a member of the prestigious American Whig-Cliosophic society and the Tau Bet Pi Engineering Society. A Shapiro Prize Recipient, she also volunteers with the boathouse's Stem to Stern program, teaching the rowing and STEM curriculum to underserved youth in Trenton.
Li is an Operations Research and Financial Engineering major from El Paso, Texas with minors in Art History and French Language and Culture.
ETHAN PUCKETT | FOOTBALL
A senior inside linebacker for Princeton football, Ethan Puckett has modeled quiet determination for his program both on the field and in the classroom.
Puckett is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, Princeton's premier student organization dedicated to fostering computer science interests for aspiring engineers, academics, or analysts. During his time at Princeton, Puckett built an AI learning platform called LecturePilot to help students convert their notes and lectures into interactive study tools better designed to help them study.
He also completed his senior thesis by developing a Python-based computer system to predict cloud spot instance termination risk across Amazon Web Services and Azure.
From Westfield, N.C., Puckett is completing a degree in computer science.
