Ryan Wolfe Promoted to Second Assistant Coach

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ryan Wolfe was promoted to Second Assistant Coach of Princeton Wrestling, the team announced Tuesday.
"I'm very excited to have Ryan step up into this new role within the program," said Head Coach Joe Dubuque. "In just one year he's proven that he can make a huge impact on the program, and I'm happy for him and his family."
Wolfe completed his first season with the Tigers in 2025-26, helping the team build through a year that ended with sophomore Marc-Anthony McGowan earning silver at the NCAA Championships in Cleveland. McGowan became the program's first All-American and national finalist since 2023, and first under Dubuque.
Wolfe, working specifically with the upper weights, also saw success as 174 sophomore Holden Garcia took bronze at the Ivy League Championships and qualified for his first NCAA Championships.
Before coming to Princeton last year, Wolfe served as assistant coach at his alma mater, Rider, since 2018.
In Wolfe's first year as an assistant coach under Head Coach John Hangey, the Broncs sent four wrestlers to NCAA Championships in Dean Sherry (174), Anthony Cefolo (133), Jesse Dellavecchia (165) and Ethan Laird (197). Sherry and Laird each won their weight class at EWL Championships as the Broncs finished second as a team for the second-straight year.
In 2019-20, Dellavecchia and Laird earned All-America recognition from the NWCA following the cancellation of NCAAs due to COVID-19.
The Broncs reached new heights under Wolfe in 2020-21, with Dellavecchia becoming a National Finalist - the first in Rider history. The Broncs finished third at MAC Championships that year, with Hangey earning MAC Co-Coach of the Year honors and six Broncs qualifying for NCAAs.
As a Bronc himself, Wolfe earned All-America honors in 2017. He was a three-time NCAA DI tournament qualifier and three-time EWL Champion. He was a four-time EWL finalist, a two-time place-winner at the Midlands Tournament, and he was also a freestyle All-American.
Already an impactful member of the Tiger coaching staff, Wolfe will play a larger role within the program on the heels of his new promotion.
"It is an honor to take on this new role as assistant coach," said Wolfe. "I am both humbled by the trust placed in me and thrilled for the future of Princeton Wrestling. We aren't just looking to compete; we have big goals to consistently put Tigers on top of the podium. That journey starts in the wrestling room with daily discipline. I am ready to outwork the competition, pour everything I have into our student-athletes, and relentlessly pursue the high expectations we have set for this team."
