No. 12 Princeton Tops St. Mary’s on Day 1 of Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. - Men's Water Polo opened the Princeton Invitational with a 15-8 victory over No. 20 St. Mary's on Friday night.
Princeton wasted little time getting on the board, as Gavin Appeldorn found the back of the net just 55 seconds into the opening period. Otto Stothart added another goal shortly after to give the Tigers an early advantage. St. Mary's responded with a pair of goals, but Princeton continued to build its lead throughout the opening frame.
The Tigers closed out the first period with a 6-3 advantage before adding three more goals in the second to take a 9-5 lead into halftime.
Princeton continued to control the pace in the third period, outscoring St. Mary's 3-1 to extend its advantage to 12-6 heading into the final frame. The Tigers added three more goals in the fourth while limiting St. Mary's to two, securing the 15-8 victory.
The Tigers' offense was firing on all cylinders, led by freshman Oliver Marcin's four goals and junior Ádám Peocz's six assists.

The Tigers will take on Navy tomorrow 9:30 a.m. before facing San Jose at 5:00 p.m.
