Nutrition
Many athletes overlook the performance nutrition aspect of their overall training and conditioning program. Often, the lack of progress or “staleness” during training can be related to poor fueling practices and not the training program itself.
Nutrition plays a key role in helping athletes improve performance through improved body composition, detailed hydration planning, and enhanced recovery nutrition. In general, the Sport Dietitian works toward promoting overall smart fueling habits among collegiate athletes.
A base training diet should consist of ample, high quality carbohydrates, lean protein and healthy unsaturated fats. However, every athlete has nutrition needs that are unique to his or her position or sport, personal goals, and health history. For that reason, the strength and conditioning staff strongly recommend that athletes meet with the Sport Dietitian on an individual basis.
