Andrew Borders serves as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Princeton University, where he has been part of the department since 2005.
In his role, Borders oversees communications for a broad portfolio of varsity programs, currently supporting women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s fencing, and men’s and women’s squash, while also having worked with men's and women's basketball, tennis, golf, wrestling, and women’s hockey during his tenure. He works closely with coaches, student-athletes, and administrators to promote Princeton Athletics across media and digital platforms, with an emphasis on clear, accurate, and consistent messaging.
Throughout his tenure, Borders has led communications efforts for programs achieving sustained success at the conference and national levels. He has supported dozens of Ivy League championship teams and NCAA postseason participants, including serving as the primary media contact for two NCAA Tournament men’s basketball teams and multiple NCAA Tournament runs for women’s soccer, highlighted by a victory over North Carolina and a run to the NCAA quarterfinals. He has also played a key role in communications for NCAA appearances across several programs, including softball, tennis, fencing, and wrestling, and promoted Princeton’s first NCAA wrestling champion in 72 years in 125-pounder Patrick Glory. He was also a recipient of Princeton’s Tiger Award, recognizing employees who have gone above and beyond in their roles, for his contributions during the 2019-20 academic year.Borders is recognized for his ability to collaborate across internal and external stakeholders, including coaches, administrators, and media partners, to effectively promote Princeton’s student-athlete experience and institutional mission. He brings a thoughtful, consistent approach to storytelling and communications strategy, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and impact.
He is an active member of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) and has completed Princeton University’s Management Development Certificate Program. Prior to joining Princeton, Borders gained experience through communications roles at Bucknell University and Miami University (Ohio).
Borders earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from UCLA and a master’s degree in communication and information studies from Rutgers University. He is active in his local community and has served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and his neighborhood homeowners’ association. He lives with his wife and son.
