Cody Brewer begins his third season as Head Assistant Coach of the Tigers in 2026-27.

Since joining the program in 2024, Brewer has helped lead the Tigers to two successful seasons. In 2026, the Tigers boasted their first national finalist since 2023 in Marc-Anthony McGowan (125), who claimed silver to become the program's first All-American in the same time and first under Head Coach Joe Dubuque and his staff. McGowan also won back-to-back Ivy titles at 125 in 2025 and 2026.

Specializing in the middle-weights, Brewer also coached Eligh Rivera (141/149) and Ty Whalen (165) to two* consecutive NCAA appearances each in 2025 and 2026. The Tigers also sent five qualifiers each of those years - two of just nine times the Tigers have sent half the lineup or more to nationals.

Before Princeton, Brewer's most recent coaching experience was at Virginia Tech, where he spent five years and played a key role in guiding Joey Prata to ascend the national rankings and achieve a third-place finish at the 2020 ACC Championships. Before that, Brewer spent three seasons on staff at Northwestern following a standout career at Oklahoma. With the Sooners, Brewer was a two-time Big 12 champion, a four-time All-American and an NCAA champion in 2015.

During his tenure at Northwestern, Brewer focused on coaching the Wildcats' lightweights and provided mentorship to Sebastian Rivera, a two-time All-American. Brewer's coaching efforts with Rivera in the recent season contributed to Rivera's success in winning a Big 10 championship and securing the No. 1 seed at 125 pounds in the 2019 NCAA Championships. Brewer began his career in Evanston as a volunteer assistant coach for two seasons before being promoted to assistant coach in the most recent season.

In his collegiate career. Brewer achieved a record of 95 wins and 22 losses overall, with a dual match record of 48 wins and 10 losses during his time at Oklahoma. Throughout his four seasons, he consistently reached the finals of the Big 12 championships and secured placements of seventh, eighth, first, and third at the national championships from 2013 to 2016. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Brewer graduated from Oklahoma, earning a degree in sociology.
