Melissa Stephens joined the Princeton Athletics staff in November 2021. In her current role, she assists with the day-to-day operations of the Princeton Varsity Club (PVC) with a focus on cultivating positive relationships and experiences for members of the Princeton athletics community and current student-athletes. Melissa coordinates PVC membership programs, including PVC on the Road events, donor receptions, and seasonal coaches luncheons. She also oversees initiatives aimed at enhancing the Tiger student-athlete experience, such as the PVC Welcome Barbecue, Reading with the Tigers, and the Student-Athlete Service Council.
Before coming to Princeton, Melissa served as a fundraising and marketing assistant for the HYMC Empowerment Foundation – a nonprofit organization founded by former NFL Linebacker Aaron Adeoye. She also worked for the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, and Cleveland Browns as a community relations intern during the 2017-2019 NFL seasons. In these positions she led player engagement efforts at each team and executed hundreds of community service programs, such as the NFL’s Play 60, Crucial Catch, Salute to Service, and Inspire Change initiatives.
Originally from Jackson, Mo., Melissa graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Sport Management in 2017. As a graduating senior, the American Kinesiology Association presented her with an AKA Scholar Award which recognizes 100 students across the country each year for their research, service and potential to make an impact within the sports industry. Melissa now serves as a mentor to young girls looking to break into the sports industry with an organization called “A Seat at the Table” which aims to assist and empower women in sports.
