Hank Coogan, a standout catcher/outfielder at Richmond, has spent two seasons on the Princeton baseball staff as an assistant coach. Coogan was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team as a senior in 2008 when he led the team with a .364 batting average.
Coogan faced the Tigers six times in his career and hit .400 (8 for 20) in those games with three doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored. He was a four-year letterwinner at Richmond where he was a career .326 batter. He played in 177 games and compiled 199 hits, 95 RBIs and 10 home runs. Coogan hit above .300 in three of his four seasons and drove in more than 25 runs on three occasions.
The addition of Coogan gives the Tigers three former catchers on their staff as he joins Bradley and Lloyd Brewer in the dugout, both former North Carolina catchers. The other member of the Tigers coaching staff, pitching coach Jeremy Meccage was a former pitcher. Coogan coaches first base for the Tigers on game days.
