- Title:
- Student Assistant
Nate Franks, a senior at Princeton, is in his fourth season with the Tigers and will serve as a student assistant in 2006, as he will assist the coaching staff during practice sessions throughout the year and continue with his videotaping responsibilities during games. Franks served as the team’s manager in his first three seasons.
Franks started playing field hockey at the elementary school level in his hometown of Washington, D.C. When he later joined the field hockey team at Sidwell Friends School, he was the only male in the metropolitan D.C. area on a high school team. Despite significant hurdles, including being prohibited from playing in any games with the exception of preseason scrimmages, Franks continued in the sport, eventually joining several area mixed and men’s club teams. In early 2002, he was invited to train with the U.S. Men’s National Team in California during the summer months.
A politics major at Princeton, Franks remains an active playing member of several club teams as well as an active assistant coach for the Tazmaniacs, a Washington area girls’ indoor club team. He also works as a manager for the Princeton women’s lacrosse team in the spring.
