PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton University men's volleyball team turned in a lackluster effort tonight, losing to EIVA Tate leader Concordia 15-9, 15-3, 15-8. With the loss, Princeton dropped its fourth straight and sixth in its last seven, falling to 7-11 (3-9 EIVA Tate) on the year.
The Tigers knew they would have their hands full when a very strong and athletic Concordia team (14-7, 9-1 EIVA Tate) strolled into Dillon Gym, and it did not help that three Tiger seniors were not in top form due to senior thesis deadlines. After Princeton jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the first game, Concordia took control of the match and maintained the momentum until the final point. Princeton captain Jason Morrow (Sr., Los Angeles, Calif.) wasn't as dangerous an offensive force as usual during the match, despite leading the Tiger with 7 kills and 18 sets. Scott Dore (So., Newport Beach, Calif.) added 6 kills and a team-high .545 attack percentage for Princeton.
Colin Henry led three Concordia players in double-digit kills with 14, and notched a .579 attack percentage. Carlos Lopez had 13 kills and a team-high .722 attack percentage, and Bledar Doci added 11 kills for Concordia. Alvaro Velasco directed the dominant offense with 39 sets in the three game sweep.
Princeton's next match is April 4 at home against Rutgers-Newark at 7:30 p.m.
Game Scores:
Concordia 15 15 15 -- 3 Princeton 9 3 8 -- 0
