Tigers to the Championship! No. 6 Princeton Downs No. 2 NJIT in EIVA Semifinals

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – The sixth-seeded Princeton men's volleyball team downed No.2-seeded NJIT in a five-set EIVA semifinal thriller on Thursday in University Park, Pa.
With a final score of 3-2 (35-37, 25-16, 22-25, 25-19, 15-11), the Tigers upset the 19th-ranked Highlanders to advance to Saturday's EIVA Championship for the second-consecutive year.
As the Tigers combined for .354 hitting, senior Owen Mellon led the squad in kills with 20 on the night and a hitting percentage of .250. Sophomore Ambrose Engling was behind him with 19, hitting .366. Fellow sophomore Mason Rice added a hitting line of 14-3-21 for .524.
Engling added five block assists to his offensive effort, while setter Nolan Kelly made three solo blocks in addition to his 64 assists in the contest.

From winning two must-win games to make the tournament, to now just one match away from a conference title, the Tigers will face No. 1 Penn State on Saturday in the EIVA championship. The first serve is set for 7 p.m. in Rec Hall.
