PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's volleyball team got 13 kills and 16 digs from junior Michelle Buffum (San Jose, Calif.) but still dropped a close five-game match to Cornell in Ivy League action tonight in Dillon Gymnasium. Tonight's game was a rematch of last year's Ivy League championship match, in which the Tigers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to earn the title and a spot in the NCAA tournament. The Tigers, who had to play most of the match without sophomore outside hitter Kellie Cramm (Laguna Beach, Calif.), drop to 6-6 overall and 0-2 during league play. The Big Red is now 10-5 and 2-1 in the Ivy League.
The two teams split the first two games, before Cornell came away with a 31-29 victory in the third game. Princeton bounced back with a convincing 30-17 win to even the match at 2-2, but the Big Red pulled away for a 15-8 win in the deciding game.
