Princeton Swims Past Brown

Providence, R.I. - Junior Jesse Gage led a strong Princeton attack with victories in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle against Brown in Providence on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers came away with a 198-89 victory to improve their mark to 3-0 this season.
Gage swam the 50 free in 20.83, ahead of fellow Princeton junior Jamie Leahy, who finished second with a time of 21.33. Gage's winning time in the 100 free was 45.61. Junior Garth Fealey also won two events for the Orange and Black with victories in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke.
Fealey's victory in the 100 breast led a 1-2-3 Princeton finish in the event. Freshman Jeremy Tillman placed second and frosh teammate Evan Delaney placed third in 58.99. Fealey's time was 56.34 and Tillman swam a 58.67.
On the boards. Nick Lee and Kent DeMond went 1-2 in the 1- and 3-meter competitions. Lee finished with 271.50 points on the 1-meter and 271.05 points on the 3-meter.
Junior Carl Hessler won the 200-yard butterfly while sophomore Steve Flemming won took first in the 200-yard backstroke. The Princeton 200 medley relay team also was victorious in Princeton's 14th consecutive regular season dual-meet triumph.
Princeton will be represented at the U.S. Open at Long Island, N.Y. on Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 29 -Dec. 1 and then returns as a team to host the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 2.
