Men's Water Polo Defeats Johns Hopkins, Advances To Championship Game

PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior co-captain Jon Pharris (Newport Beach, Calif.) turned in a 14-save performance to lead the Princeton men's water polo team to a 9-4 win over Johns Hopkins and earn a berth in the title game at the Southern Championships, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy.
Junior Kevin Foster (Davis, Calif.), senior co-captain Marshall Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior Robert Urquhart (Ann Arbor, Mich.) each scored twice for the Tigers. Sophomore Derrick Wong (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) and classmates D.J. Halliday (Orinda, Calif.) and Dan McKenna (Wyndmoor, Pa.) each added a goal in the win.
Pharris shut down the Blue Jays, allowing just one goal in the first half as the Tigers went into the intermission with a 5-1 lead.
Princeton will meet the host Midshipmen in the title game tomorrow at 2 p.m. Navy has lost the championship just twice, via a loss to the Tigers in 1992 and 1999.
