Rutgers-Newark Defeats Men's Volleyball 3-1

Princeton, N.J. - Rutgers-Newark defeated Princeton 3-1 (18-30, 30-18, 38-36, 30-21) in a battle for fifth place in the EIVA Tait Division on Tuesday night. While the Tigers were able to win the first game, poor passing plagued them the rest of the way. The poor passing can be highlighted by Rutgers-Newark's commanding 58-46 lead in team assists, and the Tigers had seven more setting errors (16) than the Scarlet Raiders. Both teams battled in the third game, but Rutgers-Newark was able to come away with this pivotal game 38-36 to take a 2-1 lead over the Tigers.
Ryan Black led the Tigers with 14 kills, and Dennis Alshuler posted 11 kills. Jason Liljestrom had 44 assists, while Scot Dor? and Alshuler each had two and half blocks apiece.
Jeremy Hoff led the Scarlet Raiders with 19 kills, while Chris Goers added 56 assists.
The Tigers play next at NJIT on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m.
