Bethlehem, PA - The Princeton wrestling team entered its match against East Coast powerhouse Lehigh shorthanded and finished it virtually empty-handed, falling 34-6. Lehigh, ranked 11th nationally, improved to 6-3 while Princeton fell to 2-11.
Greg Parker (174) and Joe Looke (Hwt.) posted victories for the Tigers. The 6th-ranked Parker improved to 13-0 on the season with a 7-4 decision over the Mountain Hawks' Brad Dillon. Parker is the highest ranked Princeton wrestler since John Orr in 1985. Looke defeated Shawn Laughlin 4-3 to improve to 6-4 on the year.
The dual loss for Princeton was its fifth straight against a nationally ranked team. The Tigers fell to #1 Nebraska, #2 Oklahoma, #6 Stanford, and #6 Cal-Poly at the Lone Star Duals last week. However in spite of the stiff competition, Parker has shined brightly and has to be one of the league favorites as Ivy and EIWA competition gets underway. Also wrestling well for the Tigers have been Looke and Milo Adams, who fell to 6-6 with a 8-0 loss to 13th-ranked Mike Pirozzola of Lehigh. Juan Venturi's record stood idle at 8-6. The Tigers were without usual starters Venturi (133), Anthony Debartolo (184), and Matt Fisher (197), all of whom are nursing injuries. Princeton's next match is at home against Columbia on January 30.
