Princeton, N.J. - Junior Jess Gage won both the 75-yard freestyle and 75-yard butterfly as Princeton easily defeated Dartmouth 146-92 at DeNunzio Pool on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers remain perfect this season with a 5-0 record and improve to 4-0 in conference action.
Gage swam the unorthodox 75-yard events with times of 34.08 in the freestyle and 37.39 in the butterfly. Fellow junior Carl Hessler sprinted to a first place finish in the 25-yard freestyle (10.14) ahead of classmate Jamie Leahy and freshman Justin Chiles who finished second and third.
Senior Eric Carty-Fickles won the 1-meter diving competition while senior Kevin Volz captured the 300-yard freestyle. Junior Pat Donahue won the 75-yard backstroke (43.75) and Chiles led a 1-2-3-4 Princeton finish with a time of 21.76.
Princeton will next be in action on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 1-2 at New Haven, Conn., when it takes on Harvard and Yale in the annual H-Y-P meet. The Tigers return to DeNunzio on Saturday, Feb. 9 when they host Navy.
