Ten Honored As Fall Academic All-Ivy Selections

PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior running back Cameron Atkinson and outside hitter Michelle Buffum earned more than All-Ivy honors in their respective sports. They headlined a group of 10 athletes that were named Academic All-Ivy selections for the 2002 fall season.
Buffum was a second-team All-Ivy League selection for the women's volleyball team. A captain this past season, Buffum helped lead Princeton to the 1999 and 2000 Ivy League championships. She is a psychology major.
Joan Cundey is a senior captain for the two-time defending Ivy League champion women's soccer team. She is a politics major.
Jen Elliott is a sophomore on the field hockey team, and started every game this season for the nine-time defending Ivy League champion. Elliott helped lead Princeton to a first-round win in the NCAA tournament over defending champion Michigan. Elliott's major is undeclared.
Emily Kroshus has been one of the most consistent runners for the field hockey team, and her efforts were rewarded this season with first-team All-Ivy honors at the Heptagonal championships. She is an economics major.
Claire Miller was a first-team All-America and All-Ivy selection for the field hockey team, and has been a key component in Princeton's last three Ivy League championship teams, each of which have gone undefeated against league competition. Miller is an English major.
Atkinson led the Princeton football team to its first winning season since 1997 by becoming the sixth Princeton running back to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season. The first-team All-Ivy running back and National Scholar athlete is a chemistry major.
Teammate Andy Bryant was among the league leaders in punt return yards during the 2002 season. A four-year starter, Bryant led Princeton's 14-10 win over Colgate with a deep touchdown reception. He is a history major.
Bob Nye is a tri-captain and a second-team All-Ivy selection from the men's soccer team. Nye helped take two teams to the NCAA tournament, including the 2001 squad. He is a economics major.
Rob Urquhart is the senior captain and one of the leading scorers for the men's water polo team. He scored 51 goals for Princeton last season. He is a politics major.
Jason White broke the school record for career shutouts as the goalie for the men's soccer team. He earned one of his most important ones as a freshman, tying Yale 0-0 in the season finale to give the Tigers the Ivy League title. The All-Ivy honorable mention is an economics major.
