PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The men's squash team, the defending Ivy League champion, took care of business Saturday afternoon, sweeping host Brown to remain perfect in the Ivy League. Princeton did so without the services of tri-captain and 2001 national collegiate champion David Yik, who was sick and could not compete.
Princeton got quite a battle at the top spot, as 2002 national collegiate finalist Will Evans dropped the first two games before rallying past Ben Holiner. Evans got some momentum with a 9-4 win in game three before rolling with 9-2 and 9-0 victories in the final two games.
No other Princeton player would be taken to tha maximum, and five would win their matches in three games. Leading the way was senior Dan Rutherford, who won a pair of close games (9-6 and 9-7) in a 3-0 win. Princeton will next compete in the five-man championships next weekend. Its next Ivy League matchup isn't until next year, when the Tigers play host to Penn on Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.
