Women's Hockey Falls Short At Brown

PROVIDENCE, RI - Megan Van Beusekom posted a career-high 50 saves but it was not enough as Princeton fell to Brown, 4-1, in women's hockey action on Friday night at Meehan Auditorium. The loss drops the Tigers to 15-8-3, 10-5-0 in the ECAC. Brown improves to 19-7-2, 11-3-1 ECAC).
The game remained scoreless at the end of the first period. Van Beusekom stopped 15 shots in the opening period, while Brown's Katie Germain finished with 12 saves.
Jessica Link got Brown on the board at 10:57 of the second period. Kerry Nugent and Katie Lafleur assisted on the goal, Link's 14th of the season. Link and Nugent teames up against just three minutes later, when Link recorded her second tally of the night. Nugernt and Kristy Zamora were credited with assists on the eventual game-winning goal.
The Tigers cut the lead to 2-1 at the 17:26 mark of the second, when April Brown tallied her third goal of the season. Melissa Deland assisted on the goal.
Brown pulled away with two goals in the final period. Krissy McManus extended the Bears lead to 3-1 at the 6:03 mark of the third. Zamora scored the final goal of the night just over seven minutes into the period with assists from Meredith Ostrander and Nugent.
Princeton will travel to Harvard tomorrow for the last game of the regular season. The Tigers have already clinched a berth in the ECAC North playoffs and will host the first round on March 8-10.
