Getting ahead of ourselves - Should Princeton win the remainder of its Ivy League games, it will be assured no worse than a tie for the Ivy League championship. In order to determine which team would get the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament in case of a tie, consider: * in the event of a two-way tie, the team winning the regular-season matchup would go * should there be a three-way tie or greater, then the team with the better head-to-head record among the tying teams would get the bid * should there be a three-way tie or greater and the teams have the same head-to-head record, then the tie would be broken by comparing the tying teams to each of the next teams in the standings * if the tie remains unbroken, then the executive director of the Ivy League would determine the winner by a random draw of cards More getting ahead - Should Princeton win its remaining five Ivy games, Yale win its remaining Ivy games and Cornell win its remaining Ivy games except for Princeton, then those three teams would all be tied and there would be no applicable tiebreaker for the automatic bid other than for the executive director to randomly draw cards.
Polling place - Princeton is ranked 12th in this week's USILA poll. The last time Princeton was not in the Top 10 of a USILA poll was March 26, 1990. Princeton's current seniors were in fourth grade at the time, its current freshman were in first grade.
More polling - The Princeton-Penn game will mark the first time in 168 games that Princeton enters a game not ranked in the Top 10.
Snapped - Yale ended Princeton's37-game Ivy League winning streak with a 15-13 win over the Tigers Saturday at Class of 1952 Stadium. Princeton fell two games short of the record for consecutive Ivy wins, 39, set by Cornell from 1972-1979.
Another snapped - The 37-game Ivy League men's lacrosse winning streak is the longest by any Princeton team in school history.
More snapped - Princeton won 37 straight Ivy League games before having its streak snapped last Saturday by Yale. Of those games, 20 have been decided by at least 10 goals.
Still more snapped - Of the 37 straight Ivy League games Princeton won, seven were decided by three goals or fewer. The closest were a 9-8 win at Penn in 1999 and a 9-7 win at Brown in 1998.
Even more snapped - Princeton outscored its opponents 538-206 (average score: 14.5-5.6) during its 37-game Ivy League winning streak.
A league of their own - Princeton has won seven straight Ivy League championships and eight in the last nine years.
More league - Princeton is 61-3 in its last 64 Ivy League games. Prior to that, Princeton was 61-73-1 in its previous 135 Ivy League games.
The whammy - Princeton has won 12 straight against Pennsylvania.
Another whammy - Princeton has not lost consecutive Ivy League games since losing to Yale, Brown and Harvard in a row in 1989.
Strength of schedule - Of Princeton's first six opponents, five are ranked in this week's top 13. Still remaining for Princeton are games against No. 8 Duke and No. 10 Cornell.
Moving up the charts - B.J. Prager is in sixth place on Princeton's career goals-scored list with 98. He needs five to tie Josh Sims for fifth.
Aw, shoot - B.J. Prager has 12 goals on his last 21 shots.
Hart-stopping - Sean Hartofilis has seven goals and two assists in his last two games, he had three goals and one assist in the first four.
Face it - Anthony Perna won 12 of 19 face-offs against Yale (63.2%)after winning 19 for 42 (45.2%) for his career prior to that.
Boyle-ing point - Ryan Boyle has 12 assists, more than the next three highest Princeton players combined.
More Boyle-ing - At his current pace, sophomore Ryan Boyle would finish the regular season in 13th place all-time at Princeton in assists.
D plus - All-America defenseman Damien Davis had two goals on two shots in five games this season. He had one goal on two shots for his first two seasons combined.
For starters - Ryan Boyle and Damien Davis are the only current Princeton players to have started every game of their careers.
More starters - Scott Farrell has started 44 straight games dating to the middle of his freshman year.
I'd like to thank the academy - Joe Rosenbaum was an extra in the Academy Award-winning movie "A Beautiful Mind," filmed largely on the Princeton campus.
May madness - Princeton has won six NCAA championships in the last 10 years. Four of those titles, including last year's, have come in overtime.
More madness - Each of the last eight classes to graduate from Princeton has won at least two NCAA championships.
