Princeton, N.J. - Senior Scott Farrell was named the IvyLegueSports.com Player of the Week for his defensive efforts in Princeton's win over Cornell last Saturday. The Beaver Dams, N.Y. native helped the Tigers stay in the Ivy League title hunt with tenacious defense on the league's top scorer.
Farrell marked Cornell's Sean Greenhalgh, who had a league-high 32 goals coming into Saturday's game. Farrell held Greenhalgh in check, not allowing the scorer even one shot throughout the game. Greenhalgh managed one goal, but on a checked ball out of Damien Davis' stick in front of the net.
Princeton won 12-7 and kept its postseason hopes alive with a 3-1 Ivy record. Cornell is 4-1 in the conference while Brown stands at 3-1. The Tigers control their playoff future with games against Dartmouth and Brown remaining. Should the Tigers win both, they will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Farrell becomes Princeton's second Ivy League Player of the Week. Sophomore Ryan Boyle shared the Ivy honor last week with Greenhalgh.
