Box Score
Brown forward Adam Saunders scored three goals as the Bears topped Princeton 4-0 in men's hockey Friday night at the Meehan Auditorium in Providence, R.I. With the win, Brown sweeps the season series with the Tigers.
The first period was made up of end-to-end play until Princeton found itself killing a two-man advantage late in the period. Brown controlled the play and broke through at 17:10. Brent Robinson fired a shot from the point on net and Princeton goaltender Nate Nomeland made the save. Les Hagget, patrolling the crease picked up the rebound and stuffed it past Nomeland to give the Bears the lead. Paul Esdale also notched an assist.
Brown extended its lead in the second period, scoring at 14:03 to make it a 2-0 game. The goal came just three seconds after a penalty to Dustin Sproat expired, so the goal came before Sproat returned to the defensive zone. Adam Saunders collected the puck behind the Princeton net and skated out and attempted a wraparound. Nomeland was there for the initial shot but Saunders was able to lift the rebound over him for his third of the year. Saunders cashed in his second goal of the game at 11:06 of the third period to extend Brown's lead to 3-0. Shane Mudryk drove down the boards and cut in front of the Tiger net where he attempted to stuff a shot under Nomeland. Nomeland made the save but Saunders crashed the net, picking up the rebound and scoring high to the stick side.
Nomeland made 34 saves in the loss while Yann Danis stopped 21 shots for the win.
