PRINCETON, N.J. - John Stover won all four sprints, drew five ejections and scored one goal to lead the Princeton men's water polo team past Navy 10-7 for its third Southern Championship title in the program's history.
The Tigers fell behind early with a 2-1 deficit in the first quarter before tying the score at 3-3 at halftime. Princeton took a 7-6 lead in the third quarter and led by as many as four points in the fourth.
Dan McKenna, Dan Holligan and Reid Joseph scored two goals while Stover, Chris Kelsch, Jamal Motlagh and D.J. Halliday each added one. Joseph also had six steals for the Tigers.
"It was a great team effort," head coach Luis Nicolao said. "We played greta team defense, especially on man downs."
Princeton is now the top seed from the South in the Eastern Championships on Nov. 14-16.
