St. Lawrence's Josh Anderson scored twice in the first period to help lead the Saints to a 5-2 win Saturday night in front of 2,030 fans at Baker Rink. Mike Patton and Chris Owen tallied power-play goals in the second period to move Princeton within a goal entering the third stanza, but St. Lawrence pulled away late to win.
Anderson put the Saints on the board at 13:29 with a wrap around goal by Anderson. The play developed as he broke down the ice and fired a shot that was saved by Princeton goaltender Nate Nomeland. He then picked up his rebound and slid it into the Tiger goal. Matt Gallagher and Adam Hogg assisted on the goal. Anderson scored again as time expired in the period to give the Saints a 2-0 lead at the end of the period. St. Lawrence scored early in the second period to establish a three goal lead before Princeton started to claw back. The Tigers scored their first goal at 4:36 with a two-man advantage. Mike Patton scored the goal as the St. Lawrence defense left him alone on front and gave him two swipes before he scored his sixth of the season. George Parros and Chris Owen assisted on the goal. Owen cashed in less than three minutes later when he shot the rebound of a Neil McCann point shot into an open goal. Parros picked up his second assist of the night in the goal.
The Tigers continued to pressure the Saints through the end of the second period but could not score the equalizer. St. Lawrence began the third period strong and scored an insurance goal at 8:22 from Adam Hogg. Matt MacDonald added an empty-netter with a second remaining to seal the 5-2 win for the Saints.
