Last season Yale defeated Princeton 15-13 * March 30, 2002
In case you forgot - Yale ended Princeton's 37-game Ivy League winning streak with a 15-13 victory last March at Class of 1952 Stadium. Princeton's streak ended two games short of the Ivy record of 39, set by Cornell in the mid-'70s.
More forgot - Yale never trailed against Princeton a year ago and led by six on two occasions before Princeton twice cut it to one in the fourth quarter.
A league of their own - Princeton rebounded from its loss to Yale a year ago to win its eighth straight Ivy League title and its seventh straight outright Ivy title. Princeton has won 10 Ivy titles in the last 11 years.
More league - Princeton has won eight straight Ivy League titles, tying Brown in 1995 and winning the outright title each of the last seven years. No other Ivy lacrosse team has ever won seven straight outright championships.
Last league - The Ivy record for consecutive outright titles in any sport is 10, by Cornell's men's gymnastics team (from 1968-77; the sport was discontinued by the league in 1982). Harvard won nine straight outright men's squash titles (1991-1999) and eight straight outright heavyweight rowing titles (1964-71), and Columbia won eight straight men's fencing titles (1986-93) in the only Ivy streaks in any sport longer than Princeton's current men's lacrosse run. No place like road - Princeton is 3-0 on the road and 0-2 at home this season.
Strength of schedule - Yale, ranked 16th in this week's USILA poll, is the lowest-ranked team Princeton has played to date. Princeton has already played Johns Hopkins (first), Virginia (second), Syracuse (fifth), Hofstra (14th) and Rutgers (ninth).
Come from behind - Princeton has trailed 3-0 in the first quarter before rallying to win its last two games.
More come from behind - Princeton trailed Rutgers 8-7 midway through the fourth quarter Tuesday night before rallying to score three goals in 51 seconds, including two in 12 seconds by Sean Hartofilis, to take a 10-8 win.
On the attack - Princeton's starting attack unit accounted for all 10 goals against Rutgers.
D plus - Damien Davis was named Ivy League and Inside Lacrosse/Warrior Division I Player of the Week this week for holding Syracuse attackman Michael Powell without a goal or assist in Princeton's 11-10 win.
More D - Damien Davis has held his last two opponents (Syracuse's Michael Powell, Rutgers' Leif Blomquist) without a goal or assist; the two had combined for 42 points prior to facing Davis.
Career oriented - Sean Hartofilis scored a career-high six goals in Princeton's 10-8 win over Rutgers.
Goal oriented - With his six goals against Rutgers, Sean Hartofilis moved from 12th place to seventh place all-time at Princeton in goals scored in career. Hartofilis enters the Yale game with 99 career goals.
Point, counterpoint - Sean Hartofilis (15 goals, two assists) and Ryan Boyle (five goals, 12 assists) are tied for the team lead in points with 17.
You gotta have Hart-ofilis - Sean Hartofilis has scored at least one goal in 12 straight games, the longest streak by a current player.
Sizzling - Jason Doneger has 12 goals in his last three games.
No passing - Jason Doneger has 15 goals and no assists this season and 24 goals and no assists for his career.
Aw, shoot - Jason Doneger has 12 goals on his last 22 shots (54.5%) after having three goals on his first 10 shots (30%).
Brad to the bone - Brad Dumont scored Princeton's final two goals against Syracuse, including the game-winner with 2:55 to play.
Boyle-ing point - Ryan Boyle, the 2002 Ivy League Player of the Year, has at least one point in every game of his career.
Net results - Sean Hartofilis and Jason Doneger are the only two Princeton players who have scored at least one goal in every game.
The long and short of it - Sophomore Oliver Barry, a longstick last year and shortstick defensive middie this year, played with a shortstick and a longstick at various times of the Rutgers game.
History lesson - Princeton and Syracuse have met in each of the last three NCAA championship games. Only once in the history of Division I team tournaments have two teams met in more than three consecutive championship games (USC-UCLA in men's tennis from 1960-64).
Veterans day - Princeton's starting lineup features seven seniors (attackman Sean Hartofilis, middies Owen Daly, Brad Dumont and Matt Trevenen, defensemen Damien Davis and Brian Lieberman, goalie Julian Gould). In addition, starting longstick midfielder Joe Rosenbaum is also a senior.
Last veterans - Damien Davis is the only current Tiger who has started every game his career.
All that you can be - Senior midfielder Josh White spent two years in the Army out of high school and still is an active member of the reserves.
Old friends - Seniors Owen Daly, Brad Dumont and Joe Rosenbaum are in their fourth season together at Princeton after playing four years together at McDonogh School in Baltimore.
The write stuff - Longstick midfielder Joe Rosenbaum won the 2002 Ward Prize for Fiction from Princeton's creative writing department.
What's your source? - Defenseman Brian Lieberman is doing his senior psychology thesis on coaching and motivation.
Trophy case - Princeton head coach Bill Tierney has won eight NCAA championships in the last 18 seasons (two as an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins in the 1980s, six as Princeton's head coach).
You are what your record says you are - Princeton is 165-34 since the start of the 1990 season.
U-S-A, U-S-A - Ryan Boyle was a member of the U.S. team that finished first at last summer's World Championships in Australia.
More league - Princeton is 66-3 in its last 69 Ivy League games.
