PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's volleyball team closed its 2003 regular season in style, routing NJIT 3-0 at Dillon Gym. Brian Hamming and Dennis Alshuler combined for 26 kills and zero errors in the win. The Tigers will open their search for the EIVA championships next Saturday when they face Juniata on the road.
NJIT could do little to stop the hitting of Hamming and Alshuler. Hamming had 15 kills in 17 attempts for a season high hitting percentage of .882. Alshuler was also spectacular, killing 11 of 16 attempts for an attack percentage of .688. Blake Robinson added 14 kills, while six other Tigers had at least one kill in the home finale. Jason Liljestrom paced the offense with 42 assists, while Robinson pitched in with a match-high six digs. Alshuler and San Vitousek each had five blocks.
Princeton will face Juniata on Saturday in the first round of the EIVA playoffs. The Tigers were swept by Juniata this season in a pair of close matches.
