Welcome home - Five Princeton starters (Ryan Boyle, Owen Daly, Damien Davis, Brad Dumont, Ricky Schultz), as well as starting longstick midfielder Joe Rosenbaum, are from Baltimore.
In case you forgot - Princeton defeated Loyola 8-7 in the 2001 NCAA quarterfinals at Hofstra. Of Princeton's eight goals, seven were scored by players still on the team (two each by Owen Daly, Sean Hartofilis and Will MacColl, one by Brad Dumont). More forgot - Loyola led Princeton 4-3 at halftime of the 2001 NCAA quarterfinal game.
Streaking - Princeton has won eight straight after opening the season with losses to Johns Hopkins and Virginia.
History lesson - Princeton has played three games at Curley Field in its history. Each of those three games was against a different opponent (a win over Penn State and loss to Loyola in the 1991 Loyola College/George Transfer Tournament and a 1993 neutral site win over Virginia).
More history - Of the four previous Princeton-Loyola games, two of them (1993, 2001) were NCAA quarterfinal games.
A league of their own - Princeton needs a win in one of its remaining two Ivy League games to clinch at least a share of its ninth straight Ivy League title and 11th Ivy title in the last 12 years.
Welcome back - Ryan Boyle has two goals and 13 assists in two games since returning from a hamstring injury that he suffered April 1 at Penn. Boyle returned for the April 12 game against Hofstra.
Can you spare a dime? - Ryan Boyle has 25 assists in four Ivy League games. The league record for assists in a six-game league season is 26, set by Cornell's Pat Gallagher in 1972 and equalled by Cornell's Tim Goldstein in 1987.
More dimes - Ryan Boyle has more games this season with at least five assists (five) than he does fewer than five assists (three).
Moving up the charts - Ryan Boyle is currently third all-time at Princeton in career assists (107) and 10th all-time at Princeton in career points (152).
I'm honored - Ryan Boyle was named Ivy League Player of the Week after his two-goal, seven-assist performance against Cornell Saturday. Boyle, who leads Division I in assists and points per game, tied his career highs in assists and points.
Career oriented - Jason Doneger had a career-high seven goals against Cornell, bettering his previous best of five goals against Syracuse earlier this season.
Feeding time - Ryan Boyle has assisted on eight of Jason Doneger's last nine goals (89%). Prior to that, Boyle assisted on seven of Doneger's first 19 goals (37%).
More feeding - Jason Doneger scored five goals, all on assists from Ryan Boyle, in an 8:38 span of the second and third quarters as Princeton extended its lead against Cornell from 6-4 to 11-4.
Goal oriented - Jason Doneger has 28 goals in 10 games, an average of 2.8 per game. B .J. Prager, the All-America aattackman whom Doneger replaced this season, had 34 goals in 15 games a year ago, an average of 2.27 per game.
Family affair - Jason Doneger has 28 goals through 10 games; his brother Adam of top-ranked Johns Hopkins, a first-team All-America midfielder a year ago, has 15 goals through 10 games.
Spread it around - Princeton's first seven goals against Cornell were scored by seven different players (Brad Dumont, Josh White, Owen Daly, Will MacColl, Matt Trevenen, Jason Doneger, Ryan Boyle).
Aw shoot - Princeton had 17 goals on 35 shots against Cornell.
Injury update - Princeton starting defenseman Ricky Schultz missed the Cornell game with an ankle sprain. His status for the Loyola game is uncertain.
Oliver's twist - After playing shortstick defensive midfield for the first nine games of the season, Oliver Barry moved to longstick close defense against Cornell to replace the injured Ricky Schultz. Barry held Cornell's Sean Greenhalgh, the second-leading goal scorer in the Ivy League, to one goal.
Good as Gould - Julian Gould's goals-against average of 7.24 is more than one goal per game better than a year ago (8.25). a Face it - Princeton ranks last in the Ivy League in face-off percentage (.463).
Casino royale - Drew Casino has five goals on his last 13 shots after having no goals on his first 21 shots.
Net results - Sean Hartofilis and Jason Doneger are the only two Princeton players who have scored at least one goal in every game.
History lesson - Princeton and Syracuse have met in each of the last three NCAA championship games. Only once in the history of Division I team tournaments have two teams met in more than three consecutive championship games (USC-UCLA in men's tennis from 1960-64).
Veterans day - Damien Davis is the only current Tiger who has started every game his career.
All that you can be - Senior midfielder Josh White spent two years in the Army out of high school and still is an active member of the reserves.
Old friends - Seniors Owen Daly, Brad Dumont and Joe Rosenbaum are in their fourth season together at Princeton after playing four years together at McDonogh School in Baltimore.
The write stuff - Longstick midfielder Joe Rosenbaum won the 2002 Ward Prize for Fiction from Princeton's creative writing department.
