Jesse Hubbard, who scored a school-record 163 goals while leading Princeton to three straight NCAA championships before graduating in 1998, will start for the National Division team in the Major Leauge Lacrosse all-star game Thursday July 17.
The third annual MLL all-star game will be held at Mitchel Athletic Complex on Long Island at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 17. The game can be seen on ESPN2 later that night at 10 p.m.
Hubbard, whose 35 NCAA tournament goals are second all-time behind Syracuse's Gary Gait (50), will be one of five Princeton players in the game. Joining Hubbard, who is currently tied for third in the MLL with 16 goals, will be his New Jersey Pride teammates Jon Hess, also of the Class of 1998, and Trevor Tierney '01. The National Division will also feature Ryan Mollett '01 of the Rochester Rattlers.
The American Division team will feature Kevin Lowe '94, the MLL leader in assists with 18. Hess, second behind Lowe in career assists at Princeton, ranks second in the MLL behind Lowe with 16 assists.
The five all-stars are among the most honored players in Princeton history. All five were first-team All-America at least once as Tigers (Hess and Hubbard did it twice), and Hubbard, Lowe, Hess and Mollett were all named Ivy League Player of the Year. Lowe, Hess, Tierney and Mollett were all honored by the USILA as the top Divisin I player at their positions.
Between them they have 12 NCAA championship rings. Hubbard and Lowe scored game-winning goals in overtime to win NCAA championship games, and all five won the NCAA title their senior years.
