Cross Named Senior Associate AD For Programming; McDermott Promoted To Associate AD

Michael Cross has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Programming, while Erin McDermott has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director, Princeton Director of Athletics Gary Walters announced.
Cross, who has spent four years at Princeton and two as a senior associate, moves from the compliance/regulatory side of Princeton's athletic administration to take over the athletic programming area. His responsibilities will include scheduling of events and facilities, overseeing the grounds crew and oversight on many personnel issues.
A graduate of Buffalo who played basketball as an undergraduate, Cross went on to earn a Ph.D. from Michigan, He will take over the duties of former Princeton senior associate Jim Fiore, who left to become director of athletics at Stony Brook.
McDermott, who is entering her fourth year at Princeton, had been an assistant director of athletics who reported equally to Cross, Fiore and Walters in her previous capacity. Her new role will have her oversee Princeton's compliance responsibilities and serve as the department's liaison in a variety of on-campus academic and student life areas.
McDermott is a 1994 graduate of Hofstra, where she was a member of the basketball team. She earned a master's in athletic administration at UMass, and she has worked previously at the National Associate of Collegiate Women's Athletic Administrators and at Columbia University.
In addition, Princeton has also named David Rosenfeld assistant director of athletic communications, Jon Kurian athletic department assistant and Kristen Alexy event management assistant. Rosenfeld, who had previously been director of athletic communications at Loyola and an intern at Princeton, will work primarily with the field hockey, men's basketball and women's lacrosse teams. Kurian, who recently earned his master's degree from Springfield, will work on a variety of departmental projects. Alexy is a recent graduate of Purdue, where she was a gymnast.
