New Haven, Conn.--On a windy and cold Saturday afternoon, Princeton's dreams of a share of the Ivy Crown ended as they dropped a 4-2 season-ending battle with Yale. The Tigers record falls to 8-5-4 overall and 3-2-2 Ivy, while the Bulldogs improve to 7-10 on the season and 4-3 in the league.
Princeton took an early 1-0 lead nine seconds into the game off a goal by senior Ryan Rich. Yale's response came early in the 15th minute when Lindsey Williams found James Stewart to knot the score at 1-1.
Leading into halftime, the Bulldogs held a 2-1 advantage over the Tigers after Gage Hills delivered the ball to Andrew Dealy. Yale was also ahead with a 10-3 shot difference.
The first goal of the second half was netted by Dealy, this time off assists by both Jordan Rieger and Alex Munns.
Ryan later assisted Adrian Melville on his fifth goal of the season and cut the Bulldogs lead, 3-2, in the 78th minute. However, Yale's Munns added a goal off a feed from Williams to secure the win.
The Tigers were out shot 22-8 and rallied four corner kicks to Yale's three. Erik White tallied 10 saves in goal, while the Bulldog's Geoff Hollington made only one stop.
