Princeton, N.J. - Junior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel made 34 saves and junior co-captain Heather Jackson scored the lone goal as the eight-ranked Princeton women's hockey team shut out Mercyhurst 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Mercyhurst controlled the shots throughout the game, outshooting Princeton 12-2 in the first period, 12-8 in the second and 10-2 in the third for a 35-12 advantage in the game.
While the Lakers controlled the shot count, Princeton controlled the scoreboard because of Jackson's goal.
The goal came when she wristed a shot over Mercyhurst netminder Desi Clark's shoulder in working a 2-on-1 with sophomore Liz Keady. It was Jackson's second goal of the season.
From there the show belonged to Gaudiel who improved to 4-3-1 on the season. Princeton returns to action on Wednesday night when Yale visits Baker Rink at 7 p.m.
