Princeton, N.J. - Junior Becky Brown tallied a season-high 21 points and six rebounds to lead Princeton past Mount St. Mary's, 79-58 at Jadwin Gym on Monday night. Junior Katy O'Brien added 12 points while freshman Ariel Rogers chipped in 10 points off the bench in the win.
The Tigers (4-5) produced their highest scoring output of the season off 48.3% shooting from the field and earned 21 trips to the charity stripe, netting 16 attempts. Mount St. Mary's record falls to 1-7.
Brown scored her first points off two free throws during the Tigers opening 13-0 run.
The Mount got on the scoreboard at the 12:56 mark following a jumper by Ashley Liller to stop the run. O'Brien went a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc and push the Tigers ahead 18-2 on her third shot.
Princeton took a 36-13 advantage thanks to a lay-up from sophomore Lillie Romeiser, her first of the season, and six points from Brown with 3:27 remaining in the first half.
A perfect 6-6 from the free throw line and 10 points from Brown gave the Tigers a 38-18 halftime lead.
Brown and Rogers took over the first 10 minutes of the second stanza, combining for 25 points.
Brown gave Princeton a 23-point lead, 43-20, after a successful and-one play. Rogers then stepped to the line, while the Tigers were in the bonus and went a perfect 6-6. Princeton led 57-27.
Rogers stroked a basket with a little over eight minutes remaining that gave the Tigers their largest lead of the game, 67-39.
O'Brien seized one of her six assists as she found freshman Meagan Cowher in stride on an inbounds play and put the game out of reach at 73-45.
Mount St. Mary's went on a 13-6 run to end the final two minutes but it was too late as Princeton won 79-58.
Princeton travels to Teneck, N.J. to face Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
