The last time Princeton won in Charlottesville, Kevin Lowe scored three goals and had five assists in a 14-6 win in 1994. Since then, Princeton has won five of its six national championships, while Virginia has won two of its own, including last year's.
This time, there is a bit of a wrinkle in the rivalry: For the first time since the team's began to play yearly in 1992, neither team is ranked at least in the Top 4.

What goes on here? - Princeton (No. 7 in this week's USILA poll) and Virginia (No. 17) have met every year since 1992; this is the first meeting during that time where neither team was ranked in the Top 4 nationally.

Still more Virginia - Since the 1994 NCAA championship game, Princeton is 2-7 against Virginia in regular season games and 3-0 against Virginia in NCAA tournament games, all three of which were in the Final Four.
March madness - Princeton has won the NCAA lacrosse championship each of the last five times it has also played in the NCAA men's basketball tournament (1992, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001); Princeton has won the 2004 Ivy League men's basketball tournament and will play in the NCAA tournament next week.
More madness - Princeton has played in the NCAA men's basketball tournament and gone on to win the NCAA men's lacrosse championship or NOT played in the men's basketball tournament and NOT gone on to win the NCAA lacrosse championship 11 of the last 12 years. The only year Princeton did not do so was 1994, when Princeton did not play in the basketball tournament and then won the lacrosse tournament.
I'm honored - Scott Sowanick was the first Ivy League Rookie of the Week this season after scoring three goals and having one assist in Princeton's first two games, including two goals last weekend at Hopkins.
