Ten Named To Winter Academic All-Ivy Team

PRINCETON - Seniors Gretchen Anderson and Ed Persia led a cast of 10 student-athletes that were named to the Winter Academic All-Ivy Team, it was announced Tuesday by the Ivy League. Five men and five women, each of whom distinguished themselves in the classroom and on the playing field, were honored.
Women
Gretchen Anderson was a First-Team All-Ivy and All-ECAC selection in women's hockey, as well as a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award. She was the team's assistant captain and an ECAC All-Academic selection. This senior from Natick, Mass., is a psychology major.
Cack Ferrell earned All-America honors in indoor track & field, as well as First-Team All-Ivy honors in the 3000 meters. She placed 11th nationally in the same event. She is a sophomore from Minneapolis, Minn., and she has not declared a major.
Sarah Fraumann ended her career with an Ivy League championship in women's swimming and diving. She was named to the All-Ivy First Team four times, and she competed in a pair of distance freestyle events in the NCAA championships. She is a senior Art and Archaeology major from Deerfield, Ill.
Patricia Gadsden helped lead the women's squash team back to the national elite. She served as the team's co-captain, and played in the No. 4 spot for most of the season, winning some big matches in the process. This junior History major is from Philadelphia.
Stephanie Hsiao was named to the women's swimming and diving All-Ivy First Team six times, including three in individual events. She also had Princeton's best finish at NCAAs, placing 28th in the 100-meter breaststroke. She is a junior East Asian Studies major from Irvine, Calif.
Men
Fenil Ghodadra was named to the All-Ivy second team, and he represented Princeton well at the NCAA Regionals, placing seventh. The sophomore from Lilburn, Ga., hasn't declared a major.
Brian Kirschbaum was Princeton's best wrestler at the end of the season, running a long winning streak into a spot on the medal podium at the EIWA championships. The senior is from Madison, N.J., and is a Politics major.
Patrick Neundorfer is a sophomore forward on the men's hockey team. He served as assistant captain and led Princeton in goals this season. Neundorfer, who was also named to the ECAC all-academic team, is a sophomore Economics major from Cleveland, Ohio.
Ed Persia was the lone senior captain of the Ivy League champion men's basketball team this season. Despite a late injury, he returned to give the team a lift in its first-round loss to Texas. He is a Politics major from Beaumont, Texas.
Juan Valdivieso was named to the All-Ivy team three times as a member of the Ivy League champion men's swimming and diving team. This Olympian from Peru will graduate this year with a degree from the Woodrow Wilson School. He currently lives in Bethesda, Md.
