Box Score
Blake Robinson led a workmanlike effort from the Princeton men's volleyball team in a 3-0 victory over St. Francis Friday night. The Tigers, who will play two of the top teams in the league this weekend, didn't look past their opponents Friday night and got contributions throughout the lineup to earn the win.
Robinson, one of the top hitters in the league, led the Tigers with 14 kills, while Brian Hamming added 10 and hit a team-best .500 in the match. Sean Vitousek, Hamming's counterpart at the middle position, continued his strong play in March with nine kills of his own, while Jason Liljestrom had 38 assists to pace the offense.
Princeton had two tight spots during the match. Early in the first game, sloppy hitting put the Tigers in a hole. Sophomore Jack Pichard, the most dangerous server on the squad, led a 9-0 charge with a flurry of either unreturnable serves or serves that kept St. Francis on the defensive. Princeton took the lead from that point and never looked back in the opener.
St. Francis did lead late in game two, but Princeton was able to sideout and serve a tying point at 27-27 to even the score. Robinson then led a charge that would put the Tigers up 32-31, and a St. Francis error sealed that game. The finale was controlled by Princeton from the start, and the Tigers ended it with a 30-24 win.
Princeton will host No. 8 Penn State Saturday at 4:00.
