Box Score
PRINCETON - Despite a brilliant effort by Brian Hamming, who hit .765 in the match, the Princeton men's volleyball team fell to No. 8 Penn State on Saturday. Hamming was topped by Penn State's Keith Kowal, who hit .773 with 17 kills and zero errors.
Princeton, which still holds fourth place in the division, battled the No. 8 Nittany Lions to tight decisions in both the first and third games. Timely hitting, especially by Kowal, and a late run of serves by Matt Proper helped Penn State hold off a final surge in the third game to close out the match.
Blake Robinson had 15 kills for Princeton, while both Ryn Burns and Jack Pichard had eight apiece. Jason Liljestrom had 45 assists, but no Tiger player had more than four digs.
Princeton will host third-place Juniata Sunday at 2:00. The Tigers were swept by Juniata 3-0 earlier in the season.
