STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The eighth-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team defeated Princeton 3-0 (30-20, 30-22, 30-25) to clinch the EIVA regular season title and home-court advantage in the postseason. Penn State improves to 18-6 and 10-1 in the conference while the Tigers fall to 13-9 and 5-7 in the EIVA Tait.
Ryn Burns and Jack Pichard each had nine kills, while Jason Liljestrom added 35 assists. Mark Stevens had a match-best nine digs, while Brian Hamming had three kills.
Princeton's regular season is completed, but its postseason fate is unknown right now. George Mason upset Rutgers-Newark, which keeps the Patriots in the race for fourth place in the league and the final spot for a home postseason match. If George Mason tops Penn State at home next weekend, in a match that means nothing to the Nittany Lions, then Princeton will have to play at George Mason on April 24. If Penn State wins, the Tigers will host either George Mason or Springfield that weekend.
