Ryan Boyle, the catalyst of Princeton's return to the men's lacrosse Final Four, has been named a first-team All-America for the second straight season. Boyle becomes the seventh two-time first-team selection to play at Princeton for Bill Tierney and the first since Josh Sims '00 did it three times.
In addition to Boyle's first-team selection, Princeton's Drew Casino, Jason Doneger, Oliver Barry and Ricky Schultz were all named honorable mention All-America.
Princeton ended its season with an 8-7 loss to Navy in Saturday's NCAA semifinals. The Tigers won a 10th straight Ivy League championship this season as well.
Boyle, who had 23 goals and 44 assists this season, finished his career second all-time in assists (162) and points (232) at Princeton. He is one of two players in Ivy League history to be named Ivy Player of the Year twice, and he holds the Ivy record for assists in a league season and league career. A three-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection, Boyle led Division I with assists this season, and his 44 assists and 67 points were the fifth-best single-season totals in school history. Doneger scored 36 goals as a junior this year, while Casino scored 23, including two against Navy, as he became the first Princeton player ever with more than 20 goals as a senior after having fewer than 10 for his first three years combined.
Schultz, a senior, and Barry, a junior, were both first-team All-Ivy League defensemen.
The Princeton men's lacrosse team will leave Wednesday for a week in Japan, where the Tigers will play three games, including one against the Japanese national team.
