The Princeton men's squash team didn't waste any time getting back on track following Saturday's 8-1 loss at Yale. The Tigers swept their annual matches with Williams and Amherst, with several Tigers winning hard-fough matches.
Princeton opened with Williams College, and the featured match came at No. 6. Princeton sophomore Parker Sutton split the first two games with senior Charlie Giammattei before taking the third game 9-2. His momentum was short-lived, as Giammattei fought back with a 9-0 win in the fourth. The climax came at 9-9 in the fifth game, when Sutton pulled out the key point to claim the 3-2 win.
Each of the top five Princeton players won their respective matches 3-0, including junior No. 1 player Yasser El Halaby, who rebounded from Saturday's loss to top William Walter 9-0, 9-0, 9-0. The Tigers would have similar success against Amherst, winning the first seven matches by 3-0 scores. Junior Hop Wells, playing at No. 9, was the only Tiger to lose his first game, but he battled back with three straight wins, including a 10-8 victory in the decisive fourth game.
Princeton will welcome Dartmouth (Saturday, 2 p.m.) and Harvard (Sunday, 3 p.m.) to the Jadwin Squash Courts this weekend. The Tigers split with those teams last year, defeating the Big Green but falling to the eventual national finalist Harvard.
