BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Frank Macreery finished in fifth place overall, just seven seconds behind race winner Ryan Sheehan of St. Francis (PA), as the Princeton men's cross country team finished in third place at the 32nd Paul Short Run at Lehigh University Saturday morning.
Macreery ran the 8K course in 24:00 to lead three Tigers in the top 31 in the race. Sophomore Dave Nightingale was 13th in 24:18, while senior Ben Stern was 31st in 24:34.
Georgetown's score of 123 won the race, while La Salle placed second with 154 points. The Tigers were just behind the Explorers with 170 points.
The Tigers finished ahead of Ivy rivals Columbia (5th) and Penn (7th) in the 44-team race that featured nearly 300 runners.
Sophomore Rob Grote was 58th in 24:53 and junior Paul Rosa with 63rd in 24:57 to finish out the Tiger scorers in the race.
All seven Tiger runners finished well within the top half of the race. Freshman Michael Maag was 94th, while Justin Pines finished 133rd, each in a time of less than 26 minutes.
