Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton men's and women's lacrosse teams face off in the first of four home doubleheaders this Sunday, March 12th at Princeton Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. The women's contest will feature the sixth-ranked Tigers against second-ranked Duke at 11 a.m., while the men, ranked fifth, battle No. 2 Virginia at 2 p.m. Both contests will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
Sunday's games will not only be special due to the quality of the competition, but they will represent the first contests of any kind that will be played on the new, state of the art FieldTurf, which was installed in Princeton Stadium following the 2005 football season.
As part of these match-ups, Princeton will host Trenton Bridge Youth Lacrosse Day. Fans who donate new or used lacrosse gear at the games to the Trenton Bridge Youth Lacrosse Program will receive a $2 discount for the men's game at the gate. Ticket sales will begin immediately upon the conclusion of the women's game. Also featured will be a Warrior Lacrosse fan giveaway, in which the first 1,000 fans to enter the men's game will receive free Warrior Lacrosse merchandise.
The Princeton women (0-1) head into the contest coming off of a tough 8-7 defeat at fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins. Princeton's first six opponents this season are all ranked in the top 12 of the latest IWLCA poll released Monday. The men enter the game at 2-0, following a victory at No. 8 Johns Hopkins, snapping the Blue Jays 37-game home winning streak.
