PRINCETON - Despite a match-high 12 kills from Jack Pichard and eight more from Peter Eichler, the Princeton men's volleyball team saw its two-match win streak end at the hands of the No. 11 Penn State Nittany Lions. A late third-game rally wasn't enough for Princeton, which fell 3-0 in its final regular season home match.
Penn State cruised in the first two games, claiming matching 30-22 wins. The Nittany Lions gained an early advantage in the third game and gained match ball at 29-23. Princeton won four straight points, including an ace from Michael Vincent, but Penn State eventually clinched the match on a service error.
Penn State is now 15-7, 10-1 in EIWA Tait play. Princeton falls to 5-11, 3-7 in league play.
Penn State hit .365 for the match, including .520 in the opening game. Princeton hit .138, but was unable to make a big dent into an early Penn State lead other than the third game.
Princeton travels to NYU Tuesday night.
